2026 Municipal Councillor By-Election Information
The Town of Watson Lake will hold a Municipal Councillor By-Election on Thursday, October 15, 2026 to fill one (1) Councillor position.
The
polls will be open from 8:00am until 8:00pm, held in the Morgan Chaddock Hall
at the Watson Lake Recreation Centre.
Who Can Vote? You must:
• Be a Canadian citizen
• Be 18 years of age or older on October 15, 2026
• Have lived in Watson Lake for at least one year
• Be registered to vote
Check the Voter Registration List, available for viewing at the Town Office (710 Adela Trail), Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Not registered? Visit the Town Office with one piece of photo ID showing your full legal name and address to complete a registration application. Please note that to vote by way of special ballot or to run as a candidate you MUST BE A REGISTERED VOTER.
Key Dates • September 9: Voters list published and nominations open
• September 24 (12:00 pm): Nomination deadline
• October 5: Special ballot applications available
• October 13: Mobile poll available (contact the Returning Officer)
• October 15: Election Day (8:00 am to 8:00 pm)
Special Ballots: Eligible voters who cannot attend a poll in person may apply to vote by Special Ballot. Please note that voters must be registered, and Special Ballots will not be mailed due to the by-election timeline. Special Ballot applications can be obtained at the Town Office.
